Isabelle and Mike ~ In Love

The rain held out this morning in the Byward Market for another terrific engagement session (thank YOU Mother Nature!). I first met Isabelle and Mike last November when they hired me to photograph their 2 young children! So 6 months later I got to photograph them as a 'warm up' to the upcoming wedding - but this time without their gorgeous boys. I just loved this couple's fun and positive approach to life - in comes through in all the pics! Thanks you two for making the drive all the way from Pettawawa this morning. I look forward your BIG day very soon.

Adorable Aidan

Just returned from a session in Manotick. This little guy is just beautiful, don't you agree? In fact the entire family is pretty photogenic. Even though Aidan wasn't his usual happy self due to teething and some sleepless nights as of late, we still captured some lovely images.
Thanks for having us today!

Our Deepest Fear
I heard these words this afternoon and wanted to share. I hope it inspires somebody else today.
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant,
gorgeous, handsome, talented and fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
And, as we let our own light shine, we consciously give
other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our fear,
our presence automatically liberates others."

This morning's session was with a wonderfully warm and lovely family located in a neighbourhood directly next door to my own. I was so proud of Matteo and Marika today as they really helped me capture some amazing shots. Big brother Matteo was an especially BIG help holding my light meter and reading out the numbers - thank YOU.

A Mother's Love

Even though my sessions are mostly about the children; either by themselves or shot together as siblings I am always keen to have mom or dad jump in for a few shots. During this session, it was lovely to see how much mom loves her babies while she squeezes them in the photos. Capturing that 'connection' is a vital part of what I do and it's really special to view the final product and feel that LOVE!
Anne & Harold ~ In Love

Well what more can I say than another beautiful couple totally in-love and about to embark on the journey of marriage. THANK you my lovely couple for embracing the creative process and allowing me to put you 'on display' in the market. I think you look absolutely fabulous and I can not wait for your big day.
Brown-Eyed Beauties

I hadn't seen Jordan since he was only a few months old. Mom and dad asked me back this weekend to capture the next chapter of their lives with their new addition, Summer. It goes without saying that Summer and Jordan are simply stunning children and SO photogenic! Thanks so much for embracing the chilly backyard for an afternoon of fun shooting.
Modern Maternity

One of the aspects I love most about photography is challenging myself by trying to shoot uniquely at every session. While building my new site (due out any day now) my focus was exactly that -- fresh, exciting, and different from the old site. I think I accomplished my goal...you will all see very soon. In the meantime, here is a teaser from 1 of 4 sessions this weekend. This is beautiful Susan who is due in about three weeks.

Lindsay & Jay ~ IN love

Here is a quick blog post to mark the beginning of the 2009 wedding season. My first engagement session was with Lindsay and Jay who are tying the knot in 5 weeks at the beautiful Notre-Dame Cathedral on Sussex Avenue. To warm my couple up it seemed fitting to shoot around the Byward Market and the church where they will soon be married. Looking forward to the big day you two love birds. Thanks for a terrific session on Saturday ~ you looked so great and doesn't it show!
